Product Description
Oxoid™ Yeast and Mold Agar (Dehydrated), a selective medium primarily used in the brewing industry.
Based on Wickerham’s formulation, this medium is designed to isolate wild yeasts (both Saccharomyces and non-Saccharomyces) from cultured yeasts by exploiting their differing sensitivities to copper.
This medium is highly nutritious, with peptone, yeast extract, and dextrose supporting the growth of yeasts and molds.
Copper, typically added at 50-300 mg/L, inhibits cultured yeasts while allowing wild yeasts to grow.
This agar is recommended for microbiological quality control of beer during processing, yeast blending, and packaging.
