Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ WL Nutrient Agar: Microbial Flora Isolation & Enumeration for Brewing & Fermentation

Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ WL Nutrient Agar is an effective medium, based on the Green and Gray formula, designed for the isolation and enumeration of microbial flora in brewing and fermentation. This agar provides reliable counts for fermentation processes at pH 5.5. Adjusting the pH to 6.5 allows for the counting of bakers’ and distillers’ yeasts.

For selective bacterial counting, Cycloheximide (SR0222) can be added at 4 mg/L to suppress yeast growth. Incubation times and temperatures vary by application: 25°C for brewing materials and 30°C for bakers’ yeasts.
