Tryptone Glucose Extract Agar (Dehydrated) is a medium recommended for the enumeration of bacteria in water and dairy products, and for the detection of thermophilic organisms.

The American Public Health Association’s Standard Methods Committee advises adding sterile milk to the medium only when the original specimen dilution exceeds 1 in 10, with 10mL of a sterile 10% Skim Milk Powder solution per liter being suitable.
