Nutrient Agar (Dehydrated) is a non-selective culture medium designed for cultivating and isolating fastidious pathogens and other microorganisms. It contains beef extracts, peptone, yeast extracts, and sodium chloride, providing essential nutrients for bacterial growth.

This basic medium is primarily used for:

Subculturing organisms for maintenance.
Checking the purity of subcultures before biochemical or serological tests.
Maintaining control organisms when prepared as semi-solid so that slopes or butts.
Teaching and demonstration purposes.

It contains 1.5% agar, allowing for the addition of up to 10% blood or other biological fluids as needed. The plain medium is suitable for cultivating organisms with less stringent nutritional requirements.
