Oxoid Buffered Listeria Enrichment Broth (CM0862) is a modified selective enrichment medium for detecting Listeria species, particularly Listeria monocytogenes, in food and environmental samples (including fermented products).

Based on Lovett et al.’s original formulation, its buffering capacity has been enhanced with potassium di-hydrogen orthophosphate and disodium hydrogen orthophosphate for improved enrichment. Compatible supplements like SR0140E, SR0143E, SR0206E, SR0206B, and SR0141E are available.

Note that Listeria Selective Enrichment Supplement (containing cycloheximide) is toxic; handle with gloves and eye/face protection. Acriflavine, a component, can become inhibitory to Listeria when exposed to light.
